there was a hurricane
I meant to post this the last week of August, but I got busy. It's October. Life happens. Back in August, there was a hurricane here in New Orleans. I was in no way prepared, even with what I knew about Katrina, for what was to come: seven days without power, the lack of cell service and Internet, the generosity of strangers, the disrespect of some tourists, and learning how to enjoy showers at the coldest water setting. And, now, the credit roll for how I got through this hurricane: Aubrey Edwards, Scotch-on-the-rocks, Seely dog's dopey smile, a sparrow named Virginia (on my foot up top), Cheez-It's, friends with meals, PBR, ice, coffee from Discount Zone, friends with generators and battery packs, pb & j sandwiches, cold showers, candle light, flashlights, and friends, friends, friends.
